As a member of the Friends of the National Railway Museum, you will receive the following:

  • NRM Review magazine – a quarterly magazine packed full of articles, photographs, updates and more.

  • Discounts usually offered in the Railway Museum shop and café, and free car parking at the Museum.

  • An array of meetings and talks (in person or on-line), delving into some fascinating topics, with guest speakers.

  • Opportunities to work as a volunteer with us.

To become a member/friend of Friends of the National Railway Museum, means to be part of preserving, displaying and interpreting the best of Britain’s railway heritage.

Membership options and cost

There are a range of individual annual membership option available, depending on your age. Multi-person annual membership is also available, as well as life membership. The table below shows the options and cost. The first price show membership rate with a printed copy of the NRM Review magazine, delivered by mail, the second price is for a downloaded electronic copy. Annual Membership (valid for twelve months, from the date of registration)

 

Junior Membership - available to under 18, or those in full-time education. An electronic copy, not printed copy, of the NRM Review magazine is provided.

 

One-plus Membership - covers all residents living at the same address. A reduced rate is available if one or more of the residents is over 65 years of age.

Individual Life Membership is available at different rates for those under 65 , those over 65, and for all residents living at one address. Contact the office for more details.

Bona fide groups may join. Please contact the office to discuss eligibility, benefits and cost.

Gift Aid

The FNRM is a not-for-profit Registered Charity No. 273829, which allows it to reclaim the tax paid on the amount of your subscription and any other donation you may make under the Gift Aid Scheme. You can help the Friends increase its funds, at no cost to you, by agreeing to the Gift Aid Declaration shown on the downloadable application form available here, or on the web page for Ordinary Membership application. To be eligible, you need to pay income tax in the UK, or capital gains tax, equal to the amount the charity is claiming in the tax year in which the donation is made. By agreeing to join the scheme you will give us permission to reclaim the tax paid on your membership subscription and/or donations, thereby increasing the value of your gift by 25p for every £1 you give us, at no cost to you.

  • If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further relief through your Self Assessment Tax return.

  • You can cancel your declaration at any time by notifying the FNRM office.

  • Please also notify the FNRM Office if change your name or address, or you stop paying enough tax..

  • The FNRM is not given any information about your financial affairs.
